Ok so it's official. I'll be attending the NYC comicon this coming weekend , Feb 24th and 25th. I'll be actually singing with Comic Book Mogul, MIDTOWN COMICS, Sunday at 3:30-4:30PM at BOOTH #645. They're not hard to find . The ill thng about this is, this is the first time i'll be signing as a professional at a convention in NYC ever! So this is a speacial thing for me, however small a time frame it is, lol (i can't believe i actually made time to attend, lord knows i have no life with all the work lined up). I'll be bringing it home for my hometown with MIDTOWN COMICS (where i used to shop regularly in my early twenties). They are carrying NERVOUS BREAKDOWNS: The ARt Of LeSean Thomas Vol.1 sketchbooks for me to sign, as well as Boondocks Complete Season 1 DVDS to scribble on!! Definately come through and show love *and easy on the season 2 questions, it's COMING!, lol*

Boondocks Season 2 is moving along and it's amazing. CannonBusters action- fantasy graphic novel is almost over the hump and the next artbook from me will hit this summer( in full color). I got some art in GIrls of Gaming Vol. 4 and a profile interview in the launch issue of ROCKET MAGAZINE a new multimdeia magazine from PLAY MAGAZINE . Look for it on shelves this month. That's about it.

Been a minute!!!!

Busy with Boondocks Season#2 and another TOP SECRET animated project that i cant yet talk about. I'm DYING to scream it out loud, but i cant. but trust me, when its announced you gonna LOVE ME FOR IT.

Ok gang. i JUST got a flurry of emails from lulu regarding the recent ordering of NERVOUS BREAKDOWNS: THE ART OF LESEAN THOMAS VOL.1. so that you all are in the clear, apparently theres a problem on LULU's end regarding their printers.

Even though i've gotten several printed test copies from them to confirm that the books are A-OK, there seems to be a NEW problem regarding their printing practices. for more info, read HERE to know exactly whats happened.:

"We regret to inform you that there has been a problem fulfilling an order for NERVOUS BREAKDOWNS. We have been notified that your file (in its current format) will not RIP (print) on Lulu's printer. The error message we received was:
180: CID 189605 Text PDF will not RIP -

Although your file may have printed previously, we have discontinued our "font substitution" option. This change may affect your file if we had to substitute a font for you prior to this change. We decided to eliminate font substitution because many of our creators complained that they did not want us to substitute a font that they had specifically selected for their work.

Because of this problem, we have made your content temporarily unavailable for sale. You should go to out AUTHOR PAGE, upload a corrected version, and make it available for sale again.

There are three possible reasons why your document won't print on Lulu's printer.

One reason that files do not print is that they are created with multiple source documents. Again, we found that our system works best when the source file is a single document. If your project consists of multiple source documents -- please create a new edition, remove the current source files, merge the separate files into one file, upload the file, and republish the project. While our system will accept different types of documents we have the greatest success with documents that are .pdf or .doc format.

A second reason we've found that prevents files from printing are font issues. In particular, embedded subset fonts. Our printer does not like files that do not have the complete font embedded into the pdf. Below is a list of the fonts we recommend :
Arial, Book Antiqua, Bookman Old Style, Century, Courier, Garamond, Palatino, Tahoma, Times New Roman, Verdana, Symbol

A third item that has caused problems with our printer is Ghostscript. It is not necessarily the application itself but the document content that you are using to be converted with Ghostscript.:

So, as you can see its a sucky, nasty, unfortunate issue thats LULU's problem, but i have to adjust to... bare with me. For the time being, the Book is currently unavailable for purchase until all is fixed. i will fix this problem as fast as humanly possible as i am currently re-upping everything. as a result, you should have already been refunded (or in the process of being refunded) if you've purchased your copy from LULU.com. for those who have PURCHASED the DELUX EDITION through paypal, I'm starting on your sketches, but i'm still waiting for my extra copies to come from lulu.com, which means i'm waiting as well.

I'm not kidding you, THIS IS THE SKETCHBOOK OF THE SUMMER. Featuring back to back pages of some never-before-seen sketches, thumbnails, doodles, concepts, pencil tests from my works circa 1995 -2005.

This news will come as a surprise to some, not a surprise to others and quite possibly will mean absolutely nothing at all, but I will no longer be a part of the "pseudo-virtual-online studio" i helped co-conspire/affiliate myself with called ARTXILLA. Being a part of AX was a great experience. It was fun while it lasted, myself, being the bulk of the voice of the crew and the main voicebox, i also managed to get a cool website out of it, sparse bits of exposure and inspire a couple kids online to keep a it, but its time to move on. We're all still pretty cool with eachother and there's no need to get into details. It's simply a case of moving on to the next level. I'm at a point where my wings are growing in size and i wanna let 'em loose a little bit. The crew are in compliance and totally understand. with that, I am extremely hyped about whats gonna pop off in the future months and i honestly cant wait to let y'all know. It's definately gonna be sick.

As far as the Artxilla followers out there who came to the site for myself, or my peers works, dont worry. as Ghost would say, "aint sh*t change, its just a different label, paw!" haha. i'll still try and drop by if the gang ever manages to get the site off the ground again.

As for a "REPLACEMENT" for me, i've no clue. not sure if they'll add one cause they want 4? Or just keep it how it is. who knows. Whoever they roll wit, i'm sure will be top notch and better than me, haha.

All that aside, Sanford, keron and Ed are still holding it down and i wish 'em the best of luck on their future projects related to artxilla. In the mean time, LeSeanThomas.com is still blowin. i'm dabbling in a million things at the moment but they are clearing up a little and i'll finally be updating the site in the coming weeks. Also, swing by the forums when you get a chance just to say sup.

Cartoon Network Inks Second Season for Boondocks

January 26, 2006

Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim has ordered 20 new episodes of THE BOONDOCKS, the new hit series from creator Aaron McGruder, based on his award-winning comic strip of the same name.

The second season, to debut in winter 2006, will be produced by McGruder's production company, Rebel Base, in association with Sony Pictures Television (SPT). Ten episodes of the initial 15-episode order have already aired this season.

THE BOONDOCKS premiered on Nov. 6, 2005, to great media attention for its non-politically correct content and many favorable reviews. It ranked as the best series premiere in Adult Swim history, and has consistently ranked among the top programs on basic cable each week among young adult viewers. It was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

“Thank God for THE BOONDOCKS and Aaron McGruder,” said Mike Lazzo, Cartoon Network’svp, programming and production, responsible for Adult Swim.

BOONDOCKS NABS BEST COMEDY NOD AT NAACP IMAGE AWARDS

The 37th NAACP Image Awards Nominations were announced during a press conference at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. Randy Jackson, Aisha Tyler, Kimberly Elise, James Pickens Jr., and Kevin Frazier joined NAACP president/ceo Bruce Gordon, chairperson, NAACP Image Awards Committee Clayola Brown, and Vicangelo Bulluck, exec producer, NAACP Image Awards to announce 38 categories, which included a new award for Directing.

The big news for the animation community is Cartoon Network’s BOONDOCKS nabbing an nomination in the Outstanding Comedy Series, along with such live-action hits as THE BERNIE MAC SHOW, EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS, GIRLFRIENDS and HALF & HALF.

In the Outstanding Performance in a Youth/ Children’s Series/Special, Jo Marie Payton, Kyla Pratt and Tommy Davidson were all nominated for their voice work in Disney and ABC’s THE PROUD FAMILY MOVIE.

So i mentioned it in my forums, but i'll mention it here too. Steady with post-production on the remaining shows for season 1 of Boondocks. Lots of work. Simultaneously developing/character designing a NEW pilot for Sony Pictures Television. They keepin' a brotha busy. It's based on a Comedian. I won't speak on who just yet, not at least 'till Sony annoucnes it. But it's got a familiar feel to it. A lot more cartoony than my normal stuff which is good cause i could use the range in showcasing my diverse skills in my portfolio. Back to my Lizzie McGuire days, hah.

The Boondocks Drives Adult Swim to #1 Ranking among Ad-Supported Basic Cable for Adults 18-34and Adults 18-24 Total Day Delivery

Setting all-new Adult Swim delivery records for a series premiere, The Boondocks (Sunday, Nov. 6, 11 p.m. ET/PT), from comic artist and series creator Aaron McGruder, scored the late-night service’s highest new series delivery and ratings ever among adults 18-34, adults 18-24, men 18-34, men 18-24 and women 18-24. A total of 1,605,000 unduplicated persons 18+ tuned into the Sunday-night premiere, helping Adult Swim once more claim the #1 ranking for the week among all ad-supported basic cable for total day delivery of adults 18-34, adults 18-24 (32 weeks running) and men 18-24 (32 weeks running). Despite heavy competition from ESPN’s football programming, The Boondocks ranked #19 for the week among all ad-supported basic cable programs for adults 18-34 delivery and #8 with adults 18-24 delivery.

Highlights of The Boondocks premiere, as well as Adult Swim’s overall performance, include the following:

Aight, i just have to say, if there was any doubt (which there isnt) my hard work in the past 15 months on The Boondocks animated series, from scratch to 15 episodes later was worth it, last night's event SHATTERED the notion.

The infamous BOONDOCKS PREMIERE PARTY was a SMASH SUCCESS! rave reviews and thunderous applause was all that could be heard when the end credits for the first episode to air this SUNDAY NOV 6 11PM began to roll.
based on the AMAZING repsonse from the top industry folk in attenance, i'm gonna make my own bet and say it here: i predict a second season pick up in 3 weeks from air date! Its THAT REAL y'all.

Afterwards, it was time to eat, mingle and exchange conctact numbers with the stars!!!!i wanna again thank everyone who came through from John Witherspoon, Regina King, Cedric the Entertainer, Cedric Yarborough, Seth Green to Big homie, Aaron McGruder and his family, my team and crew who gave me love, hugs, praise and photos for my hard work! ( and Sandy for puttin up wit my ass during all this)
