THE LEGEND OF KORRA EP10. “TURNING THE TIDES” STORYBOARDS
“LIN BEIFONG’S SACRIFICE”:
Here’s some of the rough boards from ACT 3 i boarded of as staff at STUDIO MIR in Korea in 2010, EPISODE 10: “TURNING THE TIDES” that premiered Saturday. This sequence is one of the most dramatic sequences in the series.
Here, Lin single-handedly destroys an equalist airship in her mother, Toph BeiFong’s fashion. It’s a moving moment as it’s her making a drastic decision to risk her life and inevitably, her bending to allow the last air benders to get away.

Lin Beifong is my favorite character of the show. It was heartbreaking to read the script knowing i had to storyboard her end with Amon. I listened to the main theme of SWORD OF THE STRANGER boarding this sequence to help with the epicness.
I’m happy Bryke, Ryu and Joaquim trusted me to scribble out such a pivotal moment in this series and the animators stayed closely faithful to the sequence i roughed out under a rushed and tight deadline. GO MIR!!!!
Hi LeSean,
I just wanted to say that your boards look fantastic. Really dynamic. I think you did a great job on the episode. Lin Beifong was/is my favorite character as well. I was lucky enough to do a tiiiinnnnnyy bit of freelance boards for Korra in the second season. I look at work like yours and find it very inspiring. 😀
Hope Korea is treating you well!

Thanks Natasha, that’s very kind of you to say and it means a lot coming from a fellow board artist from the same show. Like you, i was simply lucky to be a part of such an inspiring, ground breaking project. I’ll stay out of trouble in Korea for sure!
